A Figueira Rubaiyat is the Jardins house of Grupo Rubaiyat, built around a Bengal fig planted, by estimates, in the 1880s or 1890s and listed as environmental heritage of the city. The reason to go is the supply chain. The group raises its own Brangus, and its own pigs and poultry. It says it was the first in Brazil to cross Aberdeen Angus with Brahman zebu, and it works the genetics with Cabaña Las Lilas in Argentina. It was no. 91 in the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants 2024, the only Brazilian entry that year. En Primeur Club reports a Michelin Plate in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

03The beef
The animal is Brangus, from the group's own farm. The Queen Beef names the sex and the selection: a heifer, and a contrafilé picked for marbling. The September 2026 menu also lists Wagyu 7/8 when available: asado de tira R$ 585, bife de chorizo R$ 598, bife ancho R$ 656. An Argentine entraña is R$ 198. What the sources do not give: days of ageing, grade or feeding regime. The group does say how one cut is handled: fraldinha goes on whole, over medium heat.
04The fire
The menu says a la parrilla, over embers; the group does not publish whether the fuel is charcoal or wood. A clay oven roasts the pupunha palm heart, and the Mediterranean side of the kitchen sends out oven dishes.
05The story
Grupo Rubaiyat dates from 1957. That year Belarmino Fernández Iglesias, born in 1931 in Rosende, Lugo, was invited to become a partner in Rubaiyat. He had arrived in Brazil in 1951 and worked as waiter, maître d' and manager at the churrascaria A Cabana; he later bought out the other partners. He died in São Paulo on 30 May 2017. The third generation of the family now runs the group, with houses in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Chile and Madrid. The opening year of A Figueira itself is not given in any source checked.

The number: 7/8, for the wagyu; the Brangus comes with none.
