Steakhouses in Singapore

Singapore's steakhouses range from American chophouses in hotels and malls to wood-fired grills, Japanese wagyu counters and Argentine and Brazilian-style rooms, almost all of them cooking imported beef.

Singapore has virtually no cattle of its own, so every steak in the city is imported. Market snapshots from Meat & Livestock Australia list Australia as the largest supplier, with roughly half of beef import volume, followed by Brazil, the United States, India and New Zealand. Menus reflect that mix: Australian grain-fed Angus and wagyu are the most common, alongside USDA Prime from the United States and Japanese wagyu from named prefectures.

The oldest style is the hotel grill. Gordon Grill has served carved meats from trolleys at the Goodwood Park Hotel since 1963, and American chophouses such as Lawry's The Prime Rib and CUT by Wolfgang Puck sit on Orchard Road and at Marina Bay. Since the 2010s a group of open-fire restaurants has cooked over wood and charcoal, often with in-house dry-ageing, led by Burnt Ends, which has held a Michelin star since 2018.

Japanese beef has its own circuit of yakiniku and omakase counters. Most steakhouses cluster in three areas: the hotels and malls of Orchard Road, the shophouse streets of Tanjong Pagar, Telok Ayer and Club Street, and Marina Bay, with outliers at Dempsey Hill, Bukit Timah and Sentosa.
