Why go

Two fires. A wood-fired parrilla for the steaks, and an asador fire pit for the slow cuts. La Boca opened on the Brisbane River over the summer of 2022–23, inside the Stamford Plaza hotel. It has sister houses in Sydney and Adelaide. The menu reads Argentine: entraña, vacío, tira de asado, cuadril, ojo de bife. Each cut carries its producer and marble score. The asador side feeds the table: brisket, lamb shoulder, pork belly and sausages on one board. On weekends, lunch is an all-you-can-eat asado. The room looks over the river to the Story Bridge.

01What to order

02The beef

Australian beef, labeled by producer. Diamantina supplies the eye fillet, the scotch fillet, the short rib and the Wagyu porterhouse, rump and tomahawk. Black Onyx Angus supplies the flank and the skirt. Marble scores run from MB 2 to MB 5. The June 2024 menu named Riverine, Black Onyx and Rangers Valley WX Wagyu, and every steak came with house chimichurri and pumpkin purée.

03The fire

The hotel says a wood-fired parrilla sits at the heart of the restaurant. In 2023 Concrete Playground described two stations: the parrilla, for grilling the Argentine way, and the asador, where meat cooks slowly over a wood fire pit. The asador takes the long cuts: lamb shoulder, Wagyu brisket, pork belly. The weekend asado menu lists a charcoal-grilled chicken thigh. The tomahawk needs 45 minutes on the grill.

04The story

La Boca opened in the Stamford Plaza Brisbane over the summer of 2022–23, per Concrete Playground in February 2023. It has sister venues in Sydney and Adelaide. The first menu put a Wagyu shoulder blade and a grain-fed scotch fillet on the asador. The hotel's page names Chef Victor and Chef Truong. The house says it pairs Queensland produce with Argentine grilling.
