Why go
In 1958, according to the house, Robert and Louise opened a small restaurant on rue Vieille-du-Temple, and the formula they left has outlived them: meat grilled over a wood fire, in the room itself, served with sautéed potatoes or salad. Their daughter Pascale and her partner François run it today. Gault&Millau's 2026 guide keeps it in its selection and sums it up in one line, 'The menu never changes, and neither do the regulars'; The Infatuation, in October 2026, listed its entrecôte, grilled over live wood fire and served without sauce. The house's own card prices a côte de bœuf for two, about a kilo, at €70.
What to order
Côte de bœuf for two (bone-in rib), about 1 kg / 2.2 lb
Entrecôte (rib-eye), about 300 g / 11 oz
T-bone steak d'Angus, about 400 g / 14 oz
Not published: aging, grade.

02The beef
The house's card gives weights rather than origins: a côte de bœuf of about a kilo for two, an entrecôte of about 300 g / 11 oz and a T-bone of about 400 g / 14 oz, the last named as Angus. No source read by Steakpedia states where the beef is raised, its breed beyond that T-bone, or whether it is aged. Paris Update, in 2006, described the côtes served on small round wooden boards instead of plates. The card also puts Southwest duck magret, veal kidney and an AAAAA andouillette on the grill.
03The fire
The fire is the house's oldest fixture. The website describes 'viande grillée au feu de bois' and smoked wood-fire grills; Time Out, in 2014, described the cook setting large pieces of meat over the flames of the dining-room hearth, and Paris Update, in 2006, placed the open fire at the back of the small room. The Infatuation's October 2026 entry says the same of the entrecôte: live wood fire, no sauce.
04The story
The house's website gives 1958 and says it has just turned 67; Bonjour Paris, in 2015, gave 1962 and told how Robert had met Louise on the Paris–Nice train shortly before. Steakpedia uses 1958, the house's date. By 2006, per Paris Update, Robert had died and Louise had retired; their daughter Pascale, her husband and a nephew had changed almost nothing, except to open the red-checked curtains, and paintings left by students who paid in kind still hung on the walls. The website now says Robert and Louise have been gone for some twenty years, and that Pascale and François run the house with a team of cooks and waiters. Gault&Millau 2026 lists it as Selected, for traditional, rustic cooking in generous portions.
