El Gaucho starts from the label. Its menu names the animal, the country and the grade: USDA Prime from the United States, Angus and wagyu from Australia, A5 wagyu from Miyazaki. The Hanoi house on Tràng Tiền is one of 37 venues the group lists in Vietnam, Thailand, Czechia and Slovakia, and the Michelin Guide put it in its first Hanoi selection, in 2023. Michelin's listing described beef grilled in the Argentine style, sparingly seasoned and served without sauce, and a butcher's counter next door for taking meat home. The format is a full steakhouse: an open kitchen and bar on the ground floor, a terrace above, room for 126.

Three countries, several grades. From the United States, USDA Prime striploin, ribeye and rib eye cap; the menu states 220 days of corn feeding for the striploin. From Australia, Angus at MB2+ and wagyu at MS 8/9 and MS 9+. From Japan, Miyazaki wagyu at A5. In 2020 Epicure listed US grain-fed Black Angus, Australian grass-fed Black Angus and purebred Australian wagyu, from producers it said use no antibiotics, hormones or pesticides. No source states how long, or whether, the beef is aged. The number: 220 days.

Michelin's listing says the beef is grilled in the Argentine style. No source names the fuel, the grill or a charcoal oven for the Hanoi house.
05The story
VinWonders dates the El Gaucho franchise to 2011. By July 2012, per Tuoi Tre News, it had two restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and one in Hanoi, at 99 Xuân Diệu in Tây Hồ, with Bangkok and a second, central Hanoi house planned for that year. In 2020 Epicure listed two Hanoi addresses, Tràng Tiền and Tây Hồ. The Michelin Guide included El Gaucho in its 2023 Hanoi selection; on 27 October 2026 its Michelin page no longer loaded, so a 2025 or 2026 listing is not confirmed.

11 Tràng Tiền, Cửa Nam ward (Hoàn Kiếm). Lunch and dinner every day; VinWonders gives 11:00 to 23:00, and the kitchen takes orders until 23:00. Bookings by phone, +84 24 3824 7280, or reservation.tt@elgaucho.asia. The restaurant is fully non-smoking, has a private dining room, and the city does not allow motorbike parking in front. On the first Tuesday of every month in 2026, grilled steaks are half price.
