Why go
El Ferroviario is for the night when the whole family, or the whole team, wants to sit down together and let the platters keep coming. It is a parrilla libre: one price per person, and the grill keeps sending food until the table says stop. Time Out counted almost 1,000 diners a night in January 2025, in a hall on former railway land a few meters from the Vélez Sarsfield stadium. Pick Up the Fork described it in 2016 as a room designed for parties and special events, with 325 seats under a ceiling hung with hams, garlic, disco balls and Argentine flags. In 2024 the Buenos Aires Portal added soccer on the televisions and counted eight cuts of beef, pork and lamb on the free menu.

01What to order
- Parrilla libre y algo másThe set menu, as Canal 26 described it in October 2025: a cold-cuts board, a hot starter platter and a beef empanada, then offal, provoleta and cuts of beef, pork, lamb, chicken and sausages, with salads and fries. ARS 46,000 a head from age 12, with drinks, dessert and cover included.
- Asado anchoThe wide-cut ribs Time Out named in 2025, cooked for more than five hours; Pick Up the Fork gave three to four hours in 2016.
- ProvoletaGrilled provolone, a house specialty according to Time Out.
- Lechón, cordero and chivitoSuckling pig, lamb and kid, roasted asador-style; in 2016 the suckling pig hung over the flames.
- Mollejas and chinchulinesSweetbreads finished with half a lemon, and small intestine, grilled in a section of their own.
- Bife de chorizo, à la carteARS 41,400 or 45,100 on the July 2025 list published by Canal 26, which did not explain the two figures; vacío was ARS 42,100 or 49,000.
02The beef
No source names the breed, the feeding or the supplier, and none mentions aging. What the sources describe is range. In March 2026 Canal 26 listed vacío, bife de chorizo, tenderized matambre, asado ancho and asado fino, short ribs, pechito, bondiola, entraña and lechón among the cuts of the free menu, alongside lamb, chicken, chorizo and morcilla.
03The fire
In 2016 Pick Up the Fork described three separate grills, a vertical line for the sausages and whole animals roasted asador-style beside the fire. The sources do not name the wood or the charcoal.
04The story
El Ferroviario opened in 2006, according to Canal 26, as the buffet of the Club de Personal Jerárquico del Ferrocarril Domingo F. Sarmiento, the senior staff club of the Sarmiento railway line. Pick Up the Fork told it as a canteen for the members and employees of the Club Ferroviario on the same grounds, which opened to the public once the grills filled and the crowds arrived. Over the years the menu grew past the grill to pasta, picadas and milanesas, and the railway stayed in the name.
05The practical
Av. Reservistas Argentinos 219, Liniers, a few blocks from Liniers station on the Sarmiento line. Open Tuesday to Sunday, noon to 4 pm and 8 pm to 12:30 am (Canal 26, March 2026). In October 2025 children aged 5 to 11 paid half and children under 5 ate free; in March 2026 Canal 26 gave ARS 50,000 for the free menu without saying whether that is per person. A Wednesday promotion, Miércoles de Mujer, priced the parrillada at ARS 30,000 in cash (Expats Argentina, October 2026). In 2016 it took cash only. For a large group, booking ahead is the safe choice.
