Why go
For dinner before a show at the Tivoli or the Old Museum, or a night staying across from the Brisbane Showgrounds, Six Acres is the steakhouse of the Rydges Fortitude Valley hotel. Its menu names the beef: Imperial Blossom purebred Wagyu, a Five Founders rib eye on the bone, a Wagyu rump at MB8–9+. When the hotel opened in April 2016, the restaurant was planned as a paddock-to-plate room that would bring regional Queensland into the city, and executive chef Francesco Trucco leads the kitchen today.

02The beef
The spring–summer 2026 menu names two producers for its premium cuts: Imperial Blossom, for a purebred Wagyu cube roll at MB6–7, and Five Founders, for a 500 g / 18 oz rib eye on the bone at MB2+. The grill section lists a 200 g / 7 oz eye fillet at A$52, a 300 g / 11 oz scotch fillet at A$50, a 300 g / 11 oz sirloin at A$48 and a 300 g / 11 oz Wagyu rump at MB8–9+ for A$52, without naming the farms. During the 2026 Ekka the kitchen added a Yardstick sirloin and a grass-fed Great Southern Pinnacle scotch fillet, both 300 g / 11 oz at MB2+. In 2017, First Table reported steaks from suppliers in Gympie and the Darling Downs.
03The fire
The steaks sit under the menu's "From the grill" heading, and in 2017 First Table singled out the grilled steaks as the restaurant's main draw.
04The story
The Rydges Fortitude Valley opened in April 2016, opposite the Brisbane Showgrounds where the Ekka is held, and Six Acres opened as its restaurant, with a terrace that First Table described in 2017 as "country comes to the city." That year the menu listed T-bone, scotch fillet, sirloin on the bone and Black Angus eye fillet, with several of the sauces still offered today. In 2022, Food Wine Travel recalled that the Showgrounds grew by a six-acre paddock, Petty's Paddock, in 1909.
