Why go

The Grill at The International lists its beef like a map. The Spring 2026 menu names the producer, the region and the marble score of every steak: Lockyer Valley from Glen Innes, Westholme Wagyu from Comet, O'Connor from Gippsland, Kidman from the Kimberley and the 1824 brand from Comet again. Steaks go over wood and charcoal grills, and the menu keeps the sauces separate, at A$5 each. The Point Group, which runs Shell House, built The International in the former Botswana Butchery space at 25 Martin Place. The Grill held two hats in the Good Food Guide 2026 and was No. 14 in the 2025 World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants and No. 33 in 2026.

01What to order

02The beef

Five producers, four regions, one scale. Every steak on the grill list carries a marble score, from MS3+ on the O'Connor tenderloin and scotch fillet and the 1824 OP rib to MS5+ on the Lockyer Valley bavette. Westholme is the Wagyu, at MS4+. Kidman supplies the dry-aged sirloin and the Fiorentina; the menu gives neither a weight nor a number of aging days. In January 2025 Time Out listed a 1.2 kg / 2.6 lb Fiorentina at MS5+ for A$310, so the menu has changed since the opening months. Beef also appears in the snacks, as aged raw beef with fermented pepper (A$32), and in the burger, 180 g / 6.5 oz of grass-fed O'Connor.

03The fire

Broadsheet describes various grills, woodfired and charcoal, and the house says its produce is cooked to order over live fire. Time Out's January 2025 review has the large cuts going to the coals; Gourmet Traveller described a wood-burning grill.

04The story

The International sits in the three-story east wing of 25 Martin Place, the Harry Seidler tower, which the New Zealand steakhouse chain Botswana Butchery left after entering voluntary administration in April 2024. The Point Group announced it in September 2024 for a November opening; Gourmet Traveller dates the opening to November 2024, while Spice News reported a launch gala on Feb. 19, 2025, so the sources differ on the date. Culinary director Joel Bickford, formerly of Aria, leads the menu, with head chef Alex Keene.

05The practical

The Wine Bar sits below and the Panorama Bar on the rooftop. Large groups book through the venue's event enquiry form.
