Why go01

Texas de Brazil suits the big, mixed table — a family lunch, a birthday, a group that will never agree on one steak — because the format does the choosing for you: carvers come to the table and slice whichever cut you ask for, with no limit, beside a salad buffet of about 50 dishes. At dinner and at weekends there are 15 skewers for ₩78,000 a head, salad buffet and soft drinks included; on weekday lunches, 9 skewers for ₩58,000. Children pay by age, from ₩18,000, and under-threes eat free.

02What to order

03The beef

What the sources describe is the range rather than the animal. At the opening in 2015 the house grilled five kinds of meat for carving at the table: beef, lamb, pork, chicken and sausage. Today the dinner list runs to 15 skewers: seven of beef, from the two picanhas to the braised ribs, then leg of lamb and lamb chops, BBQ pork ribs, pork belly, Brazilian sausage, chicken breast with bacon, peppers with cream cheese and bacon, and grilled pineapple. The weekday lunch keeps 9 of them.

04The fire

The grill is in view in the dining room, and the meat is cooked on churrasco skewers before it is carved at your table.

05The story

Texas de Brazil, the American churrascaria chain, opened here in September 2015 as its first restaurant in the Asia-Pacific region: the chain's 40th, and its fifth outside the United States. At the opening, its COO Salim Asrawi spoke alongside Caroline Nam, president of the local partner Sun At Food, which runs the brand in Korea. A second Seoul branch has since opened in the Andaz Seoul Gangnam, in Apgujeong.

06The practical

There are 150 seats and three private rooms, of 6, 6 and 8, that join up to 14 or 20; book those by phone. Naver also lists group tables for 12 to 36, high chairs and a birthday drink coupon. Sun At Food gives the address as 4F, Famille Garden (BP 4-5), 205 Sapyeong-daero, Seocho-gu, while Naver describes a one-storey building 50 m from exit 3 of Express Bus Terminal station, so allow a moment to find the door. Hours are 11:30–22:00 daily, with a 16:00–17:00 break and last orders at 15:00 and 21:30. Parking in the complex is free for 1 h from ₩50,000 spent, up to 3 h from ₩150,000. To book, call 02-6282-5000 or use Naver Booking.
