Why go
This is the Hawksmoor inside Sir George Gilbert Scott's Grade I-listed Gothic Revival building, in the room once called the Midland Grand Dining Room, with a high Victorian ceiling over the table. It opened in November 2025, the group's eighth restaurant in London, and in its first spring it was No. 13 in World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants 2026 and that list's Steak Restaurant Opening of the Year. The cooking is the Hawksmoor one: British beef from grass-fed cattle, dry-aged 35 days and grilled over charcoal, with seafood alongside, so the whole table can share large cuts by weight.

02The beef
In the UK, Hawksmoor buys beef from grass-fed, traditionally reared cattle on small farms and dry-ages it for 35 days. Rare and native breeds come through a program with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust and appear on the blackboard. The Longhorn, the native breed the menu credits with starting the group twenty years ago, is sold as a rib-eye, a T-bone, a porterhouse and a prime rib, while the Steak Flight sets Wildfell Wagyu beside Aberdeen Angus and the group's own Hawksmoor Farms rump.
03The fire
The steaks are grilled over live-fire charcoal, and the same coals take the scallops, the hake and the monkfish, which is sold by weight like the large cuts.
04The story
The room has had several lives before this one. Marcus Wareing ran The Gilbert Scott here for almost a decade, until the pandemic; Patrick Powell relaunched it in 2023 and left in 2024; Victor Garvey cooked for five months before it closed without warning in July 2025. Hawksmoor announced the takeover in October 2025 and opened at the end of November, adding the bar next door. Time Out dates the dining room's design to 1873, and the hotel itself now trades as St Pancras London, formerly the St Pancras Renaissance. In September 2026 the restaurant was also No. 10 in Europe's 50 Best Steak Restaurants.
