Why go
The official website dates Templo da Carne to 1979, in Bexiga, the part of Bela Vista around Rua Treze de Maio. The site says Marcos Bassi began by selling offal on the street, was given the title of artisan of meat, and made the house, in its words, the most respected meat restaurant in Brazil. Exame reported in 2019 that he created the fraldinha and the baby beef that his daughter Tatiana "Tati" Bassi still serves. He died six years before that article, around 2013, and she has run the house since. Exame also says the restaurant was named one of the world's top ten barbecue restaurants in the French documentary Steak Revolution. A recent renovation, per the website, took the building to 975 square meters and almost doubled its capacity.

02The beef
The sources name cuts, not herds. The fraldinha and the baby beef are the house's own line. The website sells the "linha Bassi" of cuts to take home. The 2015 Wagyu Fest used Wagyu raised in Brazil, with the rump steak and the baby beef cut from the alcatra, plus maminha. Breed, origin, grade and aging for the regular menu are not published. No prices from a current menu were found: the menu PDFs on the website could not be read.
03The fire
No source consulted says whether the kitchen cooks over charcoal, wood or gas. The only detail is the Meet & Grill dinner, at which guests watch Tati Bassi prepare the meats.
04The story
