Why go01

Book it for Japanese Black beef cooked on the iron griddle set into the counter, where the cook does everything in front of the guest, and for a menu that puts the steak beside Western dishes such as sautéed foie gras and beef tongue stew. The house says its menu is supervised by chef Hokuto Hasegawa of the restaurant Gourmandises, who, by its account, once cooked privately for the President of France; Enjoy Tokyo credits him with the Western dishes rather than the griddle. Opened in November 2023, the counter made Tabelog's 100 Steak & Teppanyaki EAST list in 2025, and its Tabelog score stood at 3.62 from 468 reviews on 25 October 2026.

02What to order

  • Dinner course, ¥15,000The fuller of the two evening courses; the house page does not say whether tax and service are included.
  • Dinner course, ¥9,800The shorter evening course. An à la carte menu is offered as well.
  • Beef tongue stew, gyūtan shichūOne of the Western dishes Hasegawa supervises, served with the steak at dinner.
  • Lunch courseThe guest chooses the main meat, and the course ends with a dessert plate from the pastry chef. Lunch can be booked.

03The beef

The beef is Japanese Black, kuroge wagyu, cooked on the griddle together with seasonal produce. That is as far as the sources go: they name no prefecture or brand, no carcass grade, no age at slaughter and no ageing period, and the house does not publish them on its page. The breed is the firm fact. The number the sources do give is 16, the seats at the griddle.

04The fire

Teppan: an iron griddle built into the counter, with the cook working in full view of the guest from start to finish.

05The story

The counter opened on 24 November 2023, together with Azabudai Hills, on the third floor of Tower Plaza in the Mori JP Tower. It is the second house of the steak house of the ryokan Ochiairo, whose original steak house is inside the inn. The ryokan stands in Yugashima, on the Izu peninsula in Shizuoka; it has operated since 1874, the seventh year of Meiji, and is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. Time Out Tokyo reported the Tokyo counter as one of four venues formed from the Yurakucho restaurant 6th by ORIENTAL HOTEL, alongside Balcony by 6th, a sushi counter and The Lovers' Lounge. The house writes its name in roman letters as Ochiairo.

06The practical

There are 16 counter seats and no private rooms, though the counter can be booked whole for up to 20 people; the house describes the room, in black and gold, as being like a state guesthouse. It opens every day: lunch 11:00–16:00, last order 14:30, and dinner 17:30–22:00. Book online through TableCheck; a 10 % service charge applies. The nearest station is Kamiyachō.
